“It’s on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly.”

Claude Monet

A new deck has landed on my table and I am diving in! I haven’t shuffled it enough to spill all the details just yet, but a full recap is on the way. Stay tuned for thoughts on the artwork, feel, readability, and, more.

In the meantime, I’ve added some basic details in the “At-a-Glance” section and some sample pictures of the deck.

Beware! Imitation Isn’t Flattery!

Signs of Counterfeit Claude Monet Impressionism Art Tarot:

  • Exceptionally low price point ($5 or so)
  • Generic tuck box
  • No Box
  • Thin cardstock
  • Pocket card size
  • Poor print quality
  • Matte cards
  • No booklet/LWB
  • Missing title cards
  • Purchased on Temu, Ali Express

Note: This deck is in a weird space between low cost, affordable, “authentic” Tarot deck and bootleg. After researching, it’s my belief this deck originated as a mass produced deck by a non-native English speaker using public domain pictures, designed to be sold at a low price point. As a result, it has all the properties consistent with an inexpensive deck and quirks of a mass produced deck, including typos, minor printing errors, and the vibe that it was developed to sell vs. developed with thought and intention. However, even though this deck has a very low price point to begin with, bootleg copies have been made and are being sold widely. These decks are exceptionally low quality with severe printing issues, poor image quality, and other hallmarks of a bootleg deck. On resale sites (Ebay, etc) the fakes appear at a near 1:1 ratio to the original. Some sites/sellers have started selling the original mass produced deck at a huge markup ($50+) to distinguish it from the bootlegs but there is nothing about this deck, even the original version, that is worth more than $15.

Confirmed Authorized Resellers: None at this time
